A Psalm or Five: Psalm 91 - 8 October 2025

Charlea Grey

Everyone who goes to the Most High God because he wants to be safe will be protected by God Almighty. I will say to the Lord: ‘You are my Place of Safety, and You will protect me. You are my God, and I trust in You.' Psalm 91:1-2, The Bible for the Deaf

Safety is one of our most fundamental needs as human beings. We all want to feel secure in our homes, towns and among our friends and family.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, safety – and even the feeling of safety – is not something we can take for granted, for many different reasons. We live in a deeply flawed world where trusting others can be difficult, and many of us often feel exposed or vulnerable.

But safety goes beyond just physical protection. Sometimes, what we need most is someone who will listen to us without judgment. Similarly, God is a safe refuge where we can unload our burdens, worries and fears.

We can always find safety with God, regardless of our circumstances. If you’re feeling anxious or uncertain, reach out to God. Ask him to keep you safe, and then have faith – just as the psalmist did – that God will protect you.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for always keeping me safe. Please keep your hand over me and my loved ones. Please protect and watch over us. Amen.
