Day 19: He sees everything - 27 November 2019
Benescke Janse van Rensburg
Something beautiful happened during my radio show yesterday morning. I work at a Christian radio station in the Cape Peninsula. Receiving prayer requests via our WhatsAppline in the studio is nothing out of the ordinary. This happens daily. However, yesterday morning one of the messagescaught my attention - and even stirred my heart.
A worried mother writes: "My 13-year-old daughter has her primary school farewell dance next Thursday night and my matric boy's matric farewell is the following night. I don't have a cent on my name, but they believe that there will be a farewell. I am totally desperate and stressed out. Please pray with me." To get more information, I gave the woman a call. When I asked if she could speak, her answer was, "I'm just getting up from my knees. I poured out my heart before God."
After telling the listeners about the woman's situation, our WhatsApp line was buzzing with messages of people offering to help out. One of the listeners even wrote: "This morning I asked God to show me where I can be good to someone else. This feels right to me." Shesent a picture of her own 13-year-old in the most beautiful dress she had worn to the farewell a few weeks ago. She donated the dress to this little girl.
This event made me think of Jesus' words in Matthew 6:18: ". . . your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." In Proverbs 5:21, we read: "For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths." Also in 2 Chronicles 16: 9, we read: "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him."
Did God see the mother kneeling beside her bed? Did He hear her prayers? Was it He who drew my attention to her message? Was it He who touched the listeners' hearts through His Spirit causing them to help? I am convinced. He is omnipotent, sovereign and still in control. All the mother had was her faith in God. It was enough.
What is it you need today? Remember, God sees everything. He hears our prayers. And He is still capable of making the impossible possible - sometimes in strange ways. God bless.
Father God, thank you for Your love. Please show me where I can be Yourhands and feet to cause a breakthrough for others. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
