Faith for Every Day - 15 October 2013

I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.
~ Philippians 1:6
Paul writes to the believers in Philippi that God, who started His good work in them when they started believing, will carry on with it all through their lives and complete it on the day that Jesus comes again. Faith in God doesn’t include only the past and the future, but also today. When the psalmists were going through hard times, they simply thought back to the times God helped them, and then they took heart again and believed that He would do it for them again.
Faith assures you that God will carry you day in, day out. That on the day of Jesus’ return, He will complete the good work that was begun in you when you were converted. This reassures you that God was there yesterday and the day before when you had crises in your life; that He will be there today, and that He will also provide for you. Faith is to know for sure that in the end, everything will work out in your own best interests. Paul writes, “We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them” (Rom. 8:28).
Lord Jesus, thank You that I may believe in You; thank You that You were there for me when I needed You in the past, that You still carry me day by day and that I can also trust in You for the future. Amen
