If someone says, “I belong to God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and does not live in the truth. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did.

~ 1 John 2:4, 6

People who believe, should live in such a way that others who watch them will be able to tell very easily that they are Christians. If we walk in Jesus’ footsteps, it means that we will live like He lived; do the things He did.

If you’re not sure how Jesus lived, go and read the four Gospels again, with undivided attention. While Jesus was on earth, He was constantly loving, helping others, healing the sick, feeding the hungry and comforting the downhearted. He was willing to serve, to do things we shy away from, to wash the feet of others. If you are serious about your own faith, this is how you should live your faith: Jesus must become visible in your lifestyle; you must demonstrate your love for others in everyday life.

God’s love for humankind has the maximum effect on us when it is answered by obedient love. This happens when God becomes more and more visible in our confession and our lifestyle. Is this true of you yet?

Lord Jesus, please make it possible for me to live like You did; to respond to Your love for me with obedient love; to love others unconditionally and be willing to serve. Amen
