Though the fig tree does not bud … Yet I will rejoice … in God my Saviour.  Habakkuk 3:17,18

We have all experienced drought or failed harvests in our lives. At other times we’ve enjoyed fruitful seasons which gave us new energy and hope for the future. As these season come and go, we often wonder what the future holds. How do I look ahead to the harvest without losing faith or hope of ever seeing that harvest bear fruit?

Learn from seasons gone by. The wise gardener will surely ask: What I am learning now that will help me be wiser as the next season approaches? Will this knowledge be useful as I pass through the various seasons, good or bad?

Learning from the dark seasons enable you to minister hope and stability to others who might face these kinds of disappointments in the future. Learning not to despair under such circumstances, but to know for sure that God, through dark times and good, has never left your side.

Prayer: Lord keep us from despair when our harvest come to nothing. Do not abandon us in our sense of loss and disappointment. Let us look forward to the promise of a season of new growth. Amen
