Paul told Timothy: "Preach the word of God, be constant in season and out of season." 2 Timothy 4:2

Like people everywhere, we don't always understand the seasons of our lives. There will be times when things go well, and times of incredible hardship and transition. We all have experience of ploughing and sowing as well as of seasons of harvesting. Having the right approach to the different seasons enables you to benefit during the harvest season. In other words, be aware of each season and do the work that the season you are in requires.

To be prepared is a gift of nature to our spirit to remind us that God is at work in our hearts to prepare us for his work on earth. And as we wait for the harvest, we learn patience. Like the wise man of Ecclesiastes, we must learn to read the seasons and do the work that corresponds to the season. There are times for planting, for resting, for watering, and ultimately for harvesting. In each season the challenge is to continue to work at and look forward to the harvest.

Another gift from our garden to us, is the gift of giving. When we are prepared to share with others, we do what Jesus commands to do. He not only shared his love and forgiveness with us, but gave is life.

Prayer: Lord, often we want to harvest before the season is ripe. Teach us to wait for the patiently yet actively for the right season to come. Amen
