The gospel keeps bringing blessings and is spreading throughout the world, just as it has among you ever since the day you first heard about the grace of God and came to know it as it really is. Colossians 1:6, GNT

 

I like to understand things through reasoning. However, I often struggle with abstract concepts. As I grow older, I’ve come to realise that I cannot fully comprehend God through rational thought. After all, God is the Almighty, and he is fundamentally different from everything I encounter in my daily life.

 

I realised there must be another way to help me know who God truly is. I have discovered that this understanding involves grasping the true meaning of grace. I also understand that if I do not know him and comprehend his grace, I will be unable to contribute effectively to building his church and kingdom in this world.

 

In the end, I found that the best way to learn about God is to look at what he did in the past and what he still does in the present. He reveals himself to us by his interactions with people as recorded in the Bible, and continues to interact with us in the present through our experiences. I have found that the golden thread running through all these stories of experience is God’s love and grace.

 

It is important to understand that grace is not merely something we receive, but rather an attitude or disposition. Grace does not only emerge when something good happens to us. For instance, people often say that surviving a car accident is by the grace of God, but true grace is much deeper than that.

 

God’s grace encompasses the entirety of his relationship with us, highlighted by his unending love. When the law declares us guilty, it is by his grace and love that we are set free.
