God is our Protector - 4 March 2025

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
Earlier this year, I was deeply moved by the massive destruction caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles. The flames spread quickly, destroying everything in their path. However, even in the middle of all the chaos, there were moments of miracles.
One such story was when a man stood in tears next to his house, which was completely spared, while everything around it – his street and neighbourhood – had burned to the ground. With tears in his eyes, he said, “Only God could have saved my house. There’s no other explanation.”
Every day, we face dangers that can make us feel afraid and unsure about the future. However, Psalm 91:7 gives us this promise: “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you” Also, in Revelation 4:11, we are reminded: “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honour and power. For you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’”
God is powerful and he is our protector. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by things we cannot control, we can put our faith in him, knowing that he holds our future in his hands. Let us keep our eyes on him. He deserves our praise.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for protecting me. Help me not to be afraid but to always trust in you. You are worthy of all my praise. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
