“My thoughts,” says the LORD, “are not like yours, and my ways are different from yours.  As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways and thoughts above yours.” Isaiah 55:8-9 (GNT)

Eve was led astray in the Garden of Eden by the devil, who promised that if Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit they would be like God and never die.  Humankind can never be on an equal footing with God.

Jesus defined what our relationship with God should be regarding our work and duty.

“Suppose one of you has a servant who is ploughing or looking after the sheep. When he comes in from the field, do you tell him to hurry along and eat his meal?  Of course not! Instead, you say to him, ‘Get my supper ready, then put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may have your meal.’  The servant does not deserve thanks for obeying orders, does he?  It is the same with you; when you have done all you have been told to do, say, ‘We are ordinary servants; we have only done our duty.” (Luke 17:7-10)

God does not owe us anything. We will always be in his debt for we can never repay God for the love he has shown us through Lord Jesus.

No matter what we may achieve in his service, we remain servants, simply doing our duty.

God is the Creator and we are his creation, we exist for God not him for us.

Prayer: Almighty God grant us grace to be alert to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, ever ready to carry out our Master’s bidding faithfully and diligently.  Amen
