Our Christian man is not just a husband to his wife or a father for his children, he lives in various relationships with other people too.

He could be a father-in-law who takes an interest in the life of his son-in-law and sometimes, like Moses’ father-in-law Jethro, he gives good advice.

“Now let me give you some good advice, and God will be with you. It is right for you to represent the people before God and bring their disputes to him.”  Exodus 18:19

Nevertheless, he realises how important it is to allow his son-in-law to lead his own life. He has a good relationship with him.

Then Moses went back to Jethro, his father-in-law, and said to him, "Please let me go back to my relatives in Egypt to see if they are still alive." Jethro agreed and said goodbye to him.  Exodus 4:18

Perhaps he is a son-in-law. A godly man respects his father-in-law and has a good relationship with him. You can read in Exodus 18:5-11 how Moses treated his father-in-law.

A Christian man also lives in relationship with his friends. He is a loyal friend.

Friends always show their love. What are relatives for if not to share trouble?

Proverbs 17:17

Just like Job, he prays for his friends (Job 42:7-10) and he is a positive influence on their lives.

People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron.  Proverbs 27:17

Is this you? Can you say, I am he?

Prayer: Thank you Lord that I do not have to manage all these relationships on my own, but that your Holy Spirit guides me every day. Make me sensitive to the voice of your Spirit and help me to treat the people in my life like you want me to treat them. Amen
