So now the Lord called a third time, and once more Samuel jumped up and ran to Eli. “Here I am,” he said. “What do you need?” Then Eli realized it was the Lord who was calling the boy. So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Yes, Lord, Your servant is listening.’”

~ 1 Samuel 3:8-9

It was only when God called Samuel the third time, that Eli realized it was the Lord speaking to him. A person’s ears are even better “heaven-channels” than your eyes, writes Stephan Joubert. Jesus speaks to you non-stop in heavenly words. If you don’t hear His voice clearly, it’s because you’re too busy. The din of your everyday life dampens Jesus’ voice. Jesus’ words are meant to fill your life with heavenly joy. To be tuned into His joy transmitter, is to have the right GPS for a life that knows Him in everyday detail, Joubert adds. He continues to say that to hear Jesus “correctly”, your life must be tuned into the right frequency 24/7. Your daily quiet time is not enough. When you become still in God’s presence, the lessons you learn in your quiet time ought to spill over into the way you live your life.

Don’t communicate with God only when you’re in your quiet place; speak to Him all day long while you’re busy with your daily tasks, and do the things He asks you to. Make it an act of will to love Him and obey Him in everything you think, do and say.

Lord, help me to hear Your voice as clear as a bell and help me stay in conversation with You all day. Amen
