God’s “celebs”?
Hennie Symington
The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these members of my family, you did it for me!’ Matthew. 25:40
We are all in awe of celebrities, stars and newsmakers. Someone needs only to appear on TV twice and he or she achieves celebrity status. When one looks at the media. one must admit that some very ordinary, some very rude and some very rich people seem to have us all enthralled
Have you every thought about the “anonymous” celebrities who perform random acts of kindness and goodness without expecting any media coverage or public adulation? We find these people everywhere – people who make it their business to become involved in helping others and make their light shine wherever they find themselves. People like you and me who do what God expects of us all.
Not just saints
To call people, who serve others unselfishly saints, does us all a disservice. Those of us who don’t see ourselves as one of the Mother Theresa’s of this world, can just sit back and leave God’s work on earth to these so-called “saints”. The fact is, God has called us all to work in his Kingdom to the betterment of all.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Lord, you don’t expect each one of us to do great deeds but only to create a bit of heaven on earth through performing acts of kindness and goodness wherever we are.
