“Run your best in the race of faith, and win eternal life for yourself; for it was to this life that God called you when you firmly professed your faith before many witnesses.”  1 Timothy 6:12, GNT

I can’t help but to think about the saying “eyes on the prize”, when I read 1 Timothy 6.

When life gets busy and we get caught up in our routines and habits, it is easy to forget about this “race” we are part of. Moreover, we can even forget that this race requires a lot of perseverance and that there are times when it is not easy to be a Christian. To live as God wants us to live, requires time and effort. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. It is not something that one can tackle effortlessly. It requires a constant awareness of yourself, your words and your actions.

Let us constantly remind each other that there is a prize that awaits us one day. Eternal life – a life without the hardships and sorrows that we endure in this world. That is why we can and must remember to also look ahead and remember what awaits us at the finish line.

Prayer: Lord, thank you that there is a prize waiting for us. Help us to look ahead and let us run the race of life with perseverance, despite the challenges. Amen
