God said to Moses: I am who I am. Exodus 3:14

There are times in our life when we doubt God. And when this happens, we stumble from one possible answer to the next. What do you do when your find yourself in this position? The best thing and only thing to do is to call upon the names of God which have been tattooed on our hearts to sustain us.

God has many names for us to call upon to give us hope. Take your Bible and take the time to read the following verses to meditate upon (you may even know some or most of them by heart!):

  • God the Creator: Gen 1:1 – "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
  • Leader and Guide: Exodus 13:21 – "By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night."
  • Gentle Voice: 1 Kings 19:12 – "And after the fire came a gentle whisper."
  • Protector: Ps 91:2 – "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
  • Mighty Warrior: Isaiah 42:13 – "The Lord will march out like a champion, … and will triumph over his enemies."
  • Daddy (Abba): Romans 8:15 – "… ‘Abba, Father.’"
  • Mother hen: Luke 13:34 – "… how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, …"
  • Weeping God: John 11:35– "Jesus wept."

There are many more descriptors of God. Call upon the Lord by any of these names and discover that he is far greater than you could ever imagine.

Prayer: Oh Lord, we are but specks in an immense universe, yet you loved us so much that you came to us in person to save us from being lost among the countless millions. Amen
