“I have complete confidence in the gospel; it is God's power to save all who believe, first the Jews and also the Gentiles.  For the gospel reveals how God puts people right with himself: it is through faith from beginning to end. As the scripture says, “The person who is put right with God through faith shall live.” Romans 1:16-17 (GNT)

Throughout life we come across people who are not necessarily religious but who we instinctively trust.  People of integrity who we accept as having our best interest at heart and we confidently place our faith in them and follow their advice. Sometimes to our benefit and sometimes to our detriment if they have feet of clay.

Christian faith is God’s gift to us.  It’s a faith that never falters. Through no merit of our own we have been saved through faith and can put our trust in God. “God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Jesus commended people of genuine faith who in their distress appealed to Him for help.

“I have never found anyone in Israel with faith like this.” He said of the Roman Centurion who asked him to heal his servant. Jesus had offered to go to the officer’s home to cure the servant.

The officer, no doubt due to his military training, was adept at summing up people.  “I am not worthy”, he replied. “Just say the word and my servant will be healed.” Jesus was surprised at the officer’s reply. His response was immediate, “Go home and what you believe will be done.” and the officer’s servant was healed at that very moment. (Matthew 8:5-13)

Throughout his ministry Jesus emphasized the necessity of increasing one’s faith in God. It is a lesson we must take to heart.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of a faith that never falters.May the Holy Spirit increase our faith so that we may live lives that will bring honour and glory to you. This we ask in Jesus name  Amen
