Earlier this year, Disney World's original map, which Walt Disney used to sell the idea of the amusement park to investors in the 1950s, sold for more than R9 million at an auction in Los Angeles, California. It is one of the highest prices paid for any Disney souvenir.
With the initial launch of the idea for an amusement park, however, there were a lot of doom prophets who thought such a thing would never work. Disney's dream and vision, however, was so strong that he did not allow these voices to shatter him. The Disney World theme park is currently visited by 19 million tourists each year.
A solid vision allows us to live confidently. At times, like the Psalmist David, we mayexperience a season where it feels as if weare totally stripped of this vision. In Psalm 13: 3-4 he writes: “O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way?. . . Turn and answer me, O Lord my God! Restore the sparkle to my eyes, or I will die.”
Is this how you feel today? You put one foot in front of the next, but you have no idea whether you are moving in the right direction. When did you last ask God for direction? In James 1: 5 we read that we may do it: “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” Also in Isaiah 30: 21 we read: “Your own ears will hear him.Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.”
Because God created us individually, He also has a “map” of what He wants our lives to look like. Let's trust Him to clarify the vision in our hearts so that we can also live with confidence. God bless.
Father God, thank you for knowing the end or the beginning - and also having a blueprint for my life. Please give me wisdom and a clear vision for my life. I ask it in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
