Meditation on a journey through the kingdom
Hennie Symington

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: Matthew 2:11(KJV)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18

Although our journey through the year is drawing to a close, it is not yet complete. In this month of Christmas you are invited to take a journey with a difference - not an overseas trip or an excursion to the nearest holiday resort - but a journey to the furthest reaches of your soul where you secret sins have gathered like dust in the attic. All you have to do to undertake this journey is to be silent.

It is a journey into the deepest, most remote places of your heart. It could be a trip to the arid wastelands of your soul where the truth has been discarded as excess baggage along the way. It could even be an expedition to the darkest regions of your mind where your faith has become entangled in lush growth that keep you from seeing the simplicity of God's message. Perhaps it is a trip to islands of solitude where you got lost looking for yourself.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find your way home and rediscover that on your journey to lost horizons, Christ never left your side. In this season of Advent Christ invites you to join him on a journey back to the simplicity of the manger so that you can discover the Child anew.

Prayer:

Spirit of God, let me follow you on a journey to where the invisible becomes visible and the improbable probable.
