“Party time!”

Hennie Symington

I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live:

I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.Psalm 104:33

Yours truly (that is me) is celebrating her third birthday on verse a day (age: irrelevant). Today you are all invited you to throw your diets overboard and to celebrate another year with me because I love birthdays as much as a cat loves mouse meat or a dog loves a ball.

And guess what! Since you can’t give me any gifts I going to surprise you all with a gift of my own: my recipe for happiness.

Happiness Pie

Start with one fresh day as it came from God’s store with no hatred, any jealousy or yesterday’s bitterness.

Method:

Take one day at a time, add twelve measures of faith, eleven measures of patience, ten measures of courage, nine measures of work, eight measures of hope, seven measures of fidelity, six measures of generosity, five hearts full of friendliness, four parts quiet time (it's like salt to salad), three measures of prayer, two measures of reflection, and a handful of determination. Add a dash of humour, a sprinkling of fun, half a pinch of silliness and a heaped cup of humour. Bake at a cozy temperature for one day and garnish with a smile. And voila! A happy day.

Just a word of admonishment! If others remember your birthday, but you forget theirs, you have the recipe all wrong. It takes so little to keep a birthday calendar next to the phone (or cell phones) to make someone's day by blessing them.

Prayer: God I thank you for this most amazing day. I thank you for years of blessings you have showered on me – through good times and bad. Bless all those who celebrate their birthdays today, giving them the assurance of your love and care. Amen.
