Twenty-Two people in the Bible who had to be more patient than you: Daniel - 3 August 2023
Xanthe Hancox
The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. Daniel 6:23, NIV
The remarkable story of Daniel's patience and trust in God reaches its climax in the moment when he was lifted out of the den of hungry lions. Astonishingly, as Daniel emerges from the den, not a single wound is found on him.
Daniel's unwavering faith in the face of adversity shines brightly in this verse. Despite the intimidating circumstances he faced, he chose to patiently put his trust fully in God. Daniel's trust was not in his own abilities or in the king's favour, but in the power and faithfulness of his Almighty God.
God did not spare Daniel from entering the lions' den but shielded him from harm. It was Daniel’s unwavering trust and steadfast patience that set the stage for the miraculous intervention of God. Likewise, when we choose to trust in God wholeheartedly, we invite his divine intervention into our own circumstances.
The story of Daniel's deliverance teaches us that our patient trust in God's timing and his sovereign plan can lead to outcomes that surpass our expectations. Just as Daniel emerged from the den unscathed, we too can experience God's protection, provision, and deliverance when we place our unwavering trust in Him.
Prayer: Faithful God, we thank you for the story of Daniel and his unwavering trust in you. As we face challenging circumstances, teach us to trust in you completely. Strengthen our faith, knowing that you are capable of miraculous intervention in our lives. Help us to place our full trust in your power, knowing that you are our protector, provider, and deliverer. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
