Christ, however, offered one sacrifice for sins, an offering that is effective for ever, and then he sat down at the right-hand side of God. Hebrews 10:12, GNT

Jesus is not only our Advocate with the Father – he is also the One who fully understands our struggle here on earth. In Hebrews 4:15, it is clearly stated that Jesus also experienced all the temptations we experience, because he was completely human. We can, therefore, confidently tell Jesus about all our problems knowing that he listens and can help us. All we have to do is trust him. Isn’t that reassuring?

Another task that Jesus is busy with is keeping his church together here on earth. "Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head. Under his control all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love." (Ephesians 4:15-16) All we achieve as members is only possible in him and his power that works through us. Whether you are a member of a mega church or a small congregation, it does not matter. Not one believer is more important to Jesus than the other, because the church belongs to him. He deserves all the praise and honour.

Most of us know the passage in John 14, where Jesus says that in his Father’s house there are many dwelling places and that he goes to prepare a place for us. The idea that Jesus is busy with “construction work” in heaven is beyond my imagination, but I am just as grateful that I know my place is reserved. I hope you have this certainty in your heart as well.

Isn’t it wonderful to know that Jesus did not go away and forget about us? He is still involved with us one hundred percent. It helps me to be able to say with full confidence: "I believe in Jesus Christ who ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty." I hope that it is possible for you as well.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for not forgetting about us and that you are still working in our lives. Amen
