In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
Proverbs 16:9, NIV

Sometimes you do not know what to do any more. We think and believe that we are doing the right thing, but we run into stumbling blocks.

We often try to run ahead of God. And sometimes we waste a lot of time on our effort to try and create opportunities and make a name for ourselves. But God seemingly says, “I’m doing something great, and I’ll give you what you cannot accomplish yourself.”

The Bible teaches that God goes ahead of us – He wants to do it that way for us. And sometimes, his way is different to what one might expect because He sees ahead and knows that one cannot walk alone and will not be able to progress that way. “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, ‘If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.’ So God led the people around by the desert road” to the destination he had promised them. (Exodus 13:17-18) Read Proverbs 16:9 again.

Furthermore, Israel was repeatedly promised that the Lord would show them the right path to follow even if they chose the wrong one. “... yet your Teacher will not hide himself any more, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’” (Isaiah 30:20-21)

Prayer: Lord, I am tired of struggling and trying to carve a way for myself and following my own course. Please guide and teach me in everything according to your plan. Amen
