It was an extremely hot day in the Sinai desert where Moses tended the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law's sheep. Suddenly, he noticed a bush on fire, but it did not burn up. Curiously Moses walked closer. A voice from the bush stopped him in his tracks: “Moses! Moses! Do not come any closer. Take off your sandals, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.” Moses hid his face, afraid to look at the Living God, who came to meet with him, a mere human being.

God chose Moses to deliver the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses was afraid. He was uncertain about his own ability to do it. Even more, he had to go back to the one place he fled from. "Who should I say sent me," he asked hesitantly. God's answer was simple: “I am what I am. You must say to the Israelites, 'I am' sent me to you. "

Who is this I AM to you? What is the first of God’s characteristics that you think about when you think of Him? Love? His provision? His protection? His supernatural power? His omnipotence? Knowing God’s character makes it easier to trust Him in difficult, uncertain times.

In Psalm 18:31 we read: As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD's word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.” In 1 John 4: 8b, we read, “. . . God is love.” And in Hebrews 13:8 it is written, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

God never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. For February month, the month of love, I want to focus on a few of God's characteristics. He is LOVE. My hope is that our faith would grow to such an extent, that we would, like Moses, tackle those seemingly "impossible" tasks with confidence, knowing that if God led us to do something, He would be with us the entire time. May we discover Him in a new way. God bless.

Father God, thank you for never changing. Please guide me through Your Holy Spirit to understand Your character better in the month ahead. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
