My heart is full… - 23 August 2017

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23
One’s heart is not empty but full. Full of the things that touch one personally. It can be full of joy but also full of grief. Full of love but also full of malice.
Maybe your heart is full of sin. Your conscience accuses you that you have sinned against God. Yet, God wants to renew your heart. He is the best cardiologist. He is capable of healing from sin and guilt. God gave his Son’s heart on the cross to be broken in order that our hearts need not be broken.
Maybe your heart is filled with grief. “Other people don’t know what I am going through,” you say. “They don’t know about my struggle and the many nights I lie awake. Even if they mean to be good, they will not be able to understand.”
The Lord wants to get involved and renew your heart. You tend to bottle up and it is eating you up. It is not a life. You are losing your balance more and more. Make your heart available to God, pour out your heart to Him. ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’ (Psalm 147:3). The heart of Christ was broken on the cross to heal yours.
Maybe your heart is filled with anxiety. Anxiety for people, Satan, yourself, and the future. “Give your heart to me,” says the Lord. My love drives the fear away. Do not go on living erratically. Are there perhaps things in your life that have not been forgiven? Confess these things and you will have peace at last. Even the fear will disappear.
The heart of Christ was broken on the cross to free us from the fear. Jesus endured the anxieties of hell to free us from that. Give your heart to Him.
Prayer: Lord, teach us to understand that we cannot stay lord and master of our hearts any longer. We have to give it back to you who draws us with love. Renew our hearts and take the fear away. Amen.
