Accept that some seasons are inevitable - 2 March 2017

You who are young, be happy while you are young, And let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Ecclesiastes 11:9
What are some of these seasons that shape us for life and for living? For some it’s finding your own place in the world while pondering what God has in store for you. For most people this is a season of soul searching and defining your priorities, searching for meaning in life, as well as making choices about your faith and your lifestyle. For many young people it is making choices about careers, lifestyle, and a life partner or defining their faith. For others it is a season of examining your life and your priorities. For older people it is a season of experiencing an empty nest when children leave home and start their own life journeys. For most of us, however, it is looking back on the seasons that have shaped us and made us what we are.
For some people their past is a landscape they never want to revisit while others who experienced good times in their lives, often hanker back to the past. The wise man however, counsels us to live life to the full, in all its seasons. Only then can we taste the fruits of a life that experienced all that God had to offer.
Prayer: Dear Lord, pardon us for wanting to live our lives in a rose garden without tasting the sweet as well the bitter fruits of life that have made us fully human and reliant on you for comfort, care and unconditional love. Amen
