DAY 4: I AM ... LOOKS INSIDE OF US - 6 February 2017
Benescke Janse van Rensburg
In last week the Port Elizabeth police acted on a lead and seized a shipping container filled with brand new paint containers. During their investigation, they discovered expensive liquor in every third container. The rest was filled with watered down paint. The 1940 liters of illicit liquor is equivalent to 2,500 bottles of whiskey, worth about R1 million. It is believed that it could be sold for double the price in Saudi Arabia.
At first glance, the paint containers all looked alike. Only when the lid was lifted, did the police discover that the content was different. The same is true for us believers. On a Sunday in the church, it may seem to the world that we all are deeply religious. I AM, however, lifts the lid and sees everything going on inside our hearts.
In Jeremiah 17:10 it is written: "I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind. . ." In Psalm 139: 1, 23-24 we read: "O LORD, You have searched me and known me. . . Search me, O God, and know my heart; . . . and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." And in Psalm 44:21 the Psalmist reminds us that God knows the secrets of our hearts.
Are you the same behind closed doors as what you are in the spotlight? When I AM lifts our lids to shine His light into our lives, it never is to drive us away from Him, but rather to set us free because He knows how secrets causes guilt and it is guilt that robs us from an intimate relationship with Him. What's in your container that you want to get rid of? Let us ask God to help us throw it out so He can fill us up with His Holy Spirit. God bless.
Father God, thank you for Your grace with me in every situation. Show me if there is anything not according to your will in my life and help me to get rid of it. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
