Who is God? (2) - 2 October 2015

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13
If I had been tasked to write out this psalm to be put into the Bible, I would have probably put verse 14 before verse 13, as above, because my heart brims over with praise for God as my Creator because of my experience of the perfection of His handiwork. But that in no way diminishes the wonder that I feel when I acknowledge that He created my innermost being and pieced me together in the warmth and safety of my mother’s womb.
What an exceptional thing to be knit together in our mother’s womb; for each part of our anatomy to be put together into place to grow for nine months, until that wonderful moment of birth! What better place to be protected, with amazing potential for nurture and a bond to grow between mother and child. Could you imagine being the product of an egg that hatched outside in the garden, or in a pond? Can you imagine the intelligence of the mind that planned and executed this wonder?
As human beings we take for granted so much. Do we ever stop to consider the amazing way that our bodies work? Not only are there vast numbers of cells working with precision at every moment of every day and every night to ensure that we have everything functioning to keep us alive, but also to ensure that we have quality of life.
We have a mind for thinking, a heart for feeling emotion, a spirit to appreciate the abstract working of the Divine and the five senses to be able to enjoy every experience of life through sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. And if we do get injured, there are ways that we can be healed as well. We are not just put together to exist. Our Creator wants us to live life abundantly. We are the workmanship of the finest Craftsman in the universe!
Who is this Craftsman?
Prayer: Magnificent Creator, we praise You because You have created us in the finest way and know every part of our being. Please open our eyes to Your greatness that we may be able to experience You in all Your wonder in every aspect of our life on this earth. In the Name of Jesus we ask this, Amen
