All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When others are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

The second letter to the Corinthians starts with praise to God. Then Paul gives the reasons why believers should praise God. Although the people of Corinth were going through a difficult time at that stage, Paul assured them that God would turn the tide for them again and help them in all their troubles. And when He has done it, they should comfort and help other Christians who are troubled.

Many people today live a fragmented life. Our minister mentioned during a church service that a member of our church told him her life was like a puzzle with too many pieces. It was impossible to fit every piece in. Small wonder that many people today lose hope. But if you belong to God, it is unnecessary to throw in the towel. God knows how to handle any circumstances you find yourself in, and will help and comfort you in all your troubles. Because He does it for you, He expects you to also comfort your fellow Christians like God comforted you. Do you think you can do it?

Heavenly Father, I want to join Paul in praising You, because You give me hope and bring about a solution when times are difficult. Help me to comfort others and give them hope. Amen
