Have you ever doubted your worth? Here is a testimony that might help:

"When I looked in the mirror, I hated myself," the woman confessed, sitting across from me in the radio studio. I was shocked. She is beautiful. Her dark hair hangs on her shoulders. Her bright blue sweater enhances her eyes. How is it possible that she could have hated herself?  "The kids at school called me scar face after that accident." It was an accident that changed Eldine Mac Robert's life forever. Her best friend died in the accident and she was left with a scar on her forehead. They were 16 years old.

As a teenager, Eldine was angry with God. Why didn't He spare her friend's life? In her anger, hurt and disappointment, she turned her back on God. That decision made her fall into a deep depression.

Now close to her 40th birthday, the marks on her forehead are much lighter and her sparkling personality and confidence reveal that Eldine must have experienced healing somewhere in her life. "So, where was the turning point for you," I asked her. "It was a long and difficult road," she says. "It was only when I truly met God and began to ask Him to help me see myself through His eyes that I truly began to live freely!"

Today, Eldine works as a personal stylist with the goal of helping clients see themselves through God's eyes. "Before I consult with a client, I anoint my mirror and I specifically pray that clients would see themselves as God sees them." Time and again, clients testify that that prayer was indeed answered.

In Psalm 139: 16-18 we read: "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.  How precious to me are your thoughts God! How vast is the sum of them!  Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you." In Isaiah 49:16, God reminds us: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands . . ." And in Jeremiah 29:11 He says: "For I know the plans I have for you . . . plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

The enemy's strategy has always been to rob us from our self-confidence. He wants us to look at ourselves through dirty glasses so that we would feel unworthy as a parent, spouse, employee, business person or even the leader of the congregation. God's plans however, is for us to prosper.

If you experience those doubting thoughts again, may I encourage you too, to ask God to help you look at yourself through His eyes. That changes everything. God bless.

Father God, thank you for creating me uniquely. Help me to see myself through Your eyes and to stop comparing myself to others. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
