With an average of 0.76 mm rainfall a year, the Atacama Desert in Chile, South America is known as one of the driest places on earth. In 1971, a 400-year drought, was finally broken when it started raining. These extreme drought conditions, makes this area an ideal spot for research work for Mars missions.

In our lives, however, we too at times experience dry seasons. During these seasons, while praying, fasting and begging for a certain breakthrough, it may feel as if heaven’s gates remain closed. During these seasons, we need to remind ourselves of what God says in His Word:

In Isaiah 58:11 we read: “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame.” In Hebrews 13: 5b, God promises: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” And in Isaiah 43:19 God says, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Is it easy during dry seasons? Definitely not. Yet, it is fascinating to see how quickly the desert landscape in the Atacama Desert transforms into a flower bed after a few drops of rain fell down.

God can do the same in our lives. He quenches our thirst, promises to carry us and meet our needs. He is able to make a path in the desert and create streams in the dry riverbeds. Let's trust Him. Soon, your desert areas might also be covered with flowers! God bless.

Father God, thank you for protecting me during the dry seasons in my life. Please help me keep my eyes on You, knowing that You will answer in due time. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
