So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.  Matthew 6:34

The need for happiness is often neglected in our hearts. We believe we have to do the right thing or achieve something in life before we can be happy. And so we live life waiting for happiness to happen to us and before you know, your life is half lived and half past before you discover the secret of happiness. Try and follow the advice below to get the best out of life while there is still time.

Fertilise your garden: Medicine is there for a reason. If vitamins improve you quality of life, take them. If you get sick, seek medical attention. If medication is prescribed, take it as instructed. And if you suffer from a chronic illness, make sure to take your medication without fail. That goes for every kind of illness from depression to asthma.

Cultivate your inner garden: When you spend more time on appearances than necessary, you are wasting time. Clothes, as well as food, serve the body, not the other way round.

Spruce up your garden: Your body is your spiritual abode. Memories and the experiences you go through are stored in every cell of your body. If you allow bad things to grow inside you like a like a patch of weeds, your garden will deteriorate. So, sort out your inner garden and enjoy the living space you create for yourself.

Prepare for eternal spring: If your desires are focused solely on yourself and you have very little interest in others around you, and you couldn’t be bothered about what others want, your garden will soon wither. Turn around and start over.

Take time to smell the flowers: In life we are often reminded of our mortality and therefore we need to learn how to use our time on earth wisely. That’s what Sundays are for. This is the day the Lord has made for us to revive our inner being before our Creator and to prepare for the week ahead. If Sundays are impossible for you to recoup your spiritual rest, make some other time to do this.

Prayer: Lord, we have all been given a measure of time from your store. Teach us to use this time wisely. Amen
