Ever wanted to take a quick picture of something and then realize that your phone is too full to take pictures? It can be very frustrating. Once you have deleted enough old photos from your phone to be able to take new ones, the moment in which your child or grandchild or even pet did something cute has gone. What we actually have to do on a regular basis, is to either delete or download the photos to your computer so you will always have enough space to take new ones.

Our lives can be compared to a mobile phone. If concerns and fears get a hold on us, it easily consumes us. It fills our thoughts, leaves a knot in our stomach and causes us to feel as if something is chasing us. We pray, but at times, due to us being consumed with worry, we can’t hear God’s voice, simply because there is no space for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives.

In the same way as deleting the unnecessary pictures from our phones, we need to get rid of the worries in our lives in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit. How do we do it? In 1 Peter 5: 7 we read: "Cast all your worries on Him, for He cares for you." Also in Philippians 4: 6-7 we read: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

When we talk to God about our fears - whether it is a fear that something will happen to family members on a farm, that you might lose your job, that something might happen to your children, that your spouse might get involved with an affair or that you might be diagnosed with a dreaded disease - know that He hears our prayers and that it matters to Him. He wants to take your worries upon Him and fill us with His Holy Spirit – no wonder we read in Acts 13:52 that we should be filled with the Holy Spirit continually.

Are you paralyzed with fear today? Does it dominate your thoughts and leave a knot in your stomach? Let's take our cares to Him in prayer, knowing that He cares for us. God bless.

Father God, thank you that I can bring (mention your fear or concern) to You. Help me to leave it there while You fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
