“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:10-11 (NIV)

Communication can be defined as the act of sharing thoughts and information from one entity or group to another.  There are various methods of communication –through the spoken word, by signs and gestures and by the written word.

Communication plays a pivotal role in our relationship with God as well as with our fellow beings.

Right back in the beginning of time, God formed his creation with words.  The major difference between the words of God and our own words is that God’s words are one with his actions.

Throughout the story of creation in Genesis 1, is the refrain – “and God said”-“and it was so”.  When God said – “Let there be light” – there was light.  (Genesis 1:3)

Our verse for the day makes it clear that God is the ultimate wordsmith.  His words are not merely enshrined in a book.  They testify to God’s active presence in accomplishing his purpose in the world today.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

God has placed us here for a purpose.  A purpose that will only be revealed to us if we turn in prayer to the Word of God who was made flesh and dwelt among us.

When we pray, we are in communion with God and he through his Holy Spirit makes his will clear to us.

Prayer: Heavenly Father thank you that through prayer we can be in communion with you.  Grant that through the Holy Spirit we may receive inspiration and guidance through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen
