Three years ago a 68-year old man, Roger Wilday took his German Shepherd, Jade for a walk in a park in Birmingham, England. They barely arrived at the park when Jade started sprinting in the direction of some bushes. Jade is said to have laid down next to what appeared to be a discarded carrier bag and refused to return to her owner’s side. As Wilday approached his dog, he realized that the carrier wasn’t empty. Shocked Roger discover a newborn baby in the bag.Wilday immediately called the police. When authorities arrived, the baby (later named Jade after the dog) was whisked to the hospital. The police later issued a statement saying that Jade is well. They believed that she was 24-hours old when found. If Roger and Jade did not rescue her that afternoon, she probably would not have survived the cold winter's night.

I cannot help but wonder what went through the mother's head when she decided to "throw away" the baby? Were there tears? Relief? Was she perhaps forced to do so? Also, what went through God's mind seeing the perfectly formed baby on the garbage pile? Were there tears? I am certain of it.

In Isaiah 49:15 we read: "Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you!"

Rejection by family and loved ones who are supposed to love us, at times makes it difficult to believe that God loves us unconditionally and that He cares for us. However, in Isaiah 49:16 He says: "See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands." He knows each of us by name. In Luke 12: 7, we read: "The very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows." And in Psalm 139: 13-16 it is written: "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.  Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. . . You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed."

I AM cares for us. He made us all unique and has plans of prosperity and not hardship for our lives. Let us keep our eyes on Him, knowing that even when it feels as if we find ourselves abandoned and alone due to challenges in our lives or wrong decisions from our past, He has not forgotten about us. He will come and rescue us - even if He needs to command and direct a dog to do it. God bless.

Father God, thank you for loving me. Help me to remember during my storms and challenges that You care for me. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
